Here are some of my favorite resources for bellydance. I have not ordered from all these vendors, so can't vouch for them. I will mark the ones I have sucessfully done business with using an asterisk *. This list is not definitive. I will add to it when time permits. If you find any of these links don't work, please let me know.

Forums:

www.bhuz.com - This is a great forum, lots of good discussion, reviews, articles and an awsome swap/buy/sell section.

www.gildedserpent.com - This has some good articles, but is very political and the tone can be kind of militant and bitchy.

www.ncbellydance.org * - This is the be-all and end-all of North Carolina Bellydance resources, organized and maintained by the bellydance web goddess, Haala. Look here for listings for teachers, performers, classes, workshops, festivals, and join the mailing list to stay in the loop on all things NC bellydance.

Magazines:

Zaghareet Magazine * -An awsome national bellydance magazine published bi-monthly. Lots of great articles, pictures, ads, etc.

Education:

Shira - A definitive list of articles, resources and information. Shira also hangs out on the bhuz forum listed above and her knowledge base is truly impressive.

Andrea Deagon - A professor of women's studies and classical studies, bellydancer since 1975. She has been published widely and her articles on dance, history and gender are a fascinating read.

Vendors:

Sue's Dance Boutique * - 910-455-3761 Located in Jacksonville, NC Sue carries lots of items for bellydancers, and her knowledge and customer service are second to none. I get my lyrical sandals, ballet shoes, practice shoes, etc. from her. She carries coin hip scarves, cute practice tops, harem pants, petal skirts, and veils along with some gorgeous shiny and sparkly jewelry.

Saroyan Mastercrafts * - Harry Saroyan makes the best zills/finger cymbals/sagat on the planet.

L. Rose Designs * - Excellent basic costuming for very reasonable prices. You can't beat the troupe costuming special.

Scheherezade Imports * - Lucy carries a huge variety of costuming items, sewing patterns, footwear, accessories and just general bling. She has been a dancer herself for a long time and knows what dancers need.

The Bellydance Store * - Located in Charlotte, North Carolina, very worth a trip in person if you can. Sells online as well, also owned by a dancer.

Delilah at Visionary Dance * - Sells fantastic practice veils for $15.

Dahlal International - Higher-end costuming, lots of fun to look at all the shiny sparklies.

Teachers & Groups:

Amara al Amir * - Amara is an old-school dancer like me, and has a lifetime of knowledge and experience to share. Located in Raleigh, NC, she offers wonderful workshops (also available on instructional DVD's) and has some nifty stuff for sale as well.

Belly Revelations * - The Belly Revelations dancers host some of the best dance workshops ever. Don't miss their warm and generous hospitality in Raleigh, NC.
